APSTA participates in 23rd Annual Conference of IAPTC

The 23rd Annual Conference of the International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) held from 11 -14 September, 2017, hosted by Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA), in Cairo - Egypt.

The aim of the Association (IAPTC) is to facilitate communication and exchange of information and best practices between peace operations and other related education and training centers, and/or among people responsible for, and involved in, training for peace and crisis management operations. The theme of this year’s annual conference is: “Integrated Peacekeeping Training for Complex Environments”.

A total of 270 participants representing 55 countries and 110 organizations attended the event. The representatives of ten APSTA Member Institutions including CCCPA, which assumes the presidency of IAPTC, were in attendance. From APSTA Secretariat the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of APSTA, Brig Gen. Daniel Kwadjo Frimpong (Rtd), and the Finance and Administration Officer, Ms. Jane Nyambura Karanja, attended the event.

Brig Gen. Frimpong, in his presentation, briefed the participants about the African Peace Support Training Association (APSTA). In addition, he emphasized the root cause of African problems quoting Kenyan Prof. Wangari Maathai's: "the root cause of African problems is poor leadership".
