APSTA Honorary Patron

In a letter dated 13 June 2006 and addressed to the President of APSTA, His Excellency General AA Abubakar, GCFR, CSG, Former Head of State of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, accepted an invitation to serve as the Honorary Patron of the Association. He expressed appreciation and gratitude for the recognition and the honour for the invitation. Furthermore, he commended the founding fathers/mothers of the Association and expressed the hope that "together we will help to anchor peace efforts of not only the African Union (AU) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs), but the whole world."

The President and Partners of the Association wish to express their profound gratitude to His Excellency for the kind gesture and exemplary leadership. The Patron will in future be invited to participate in key activities of the Association, starting with the Annual General Meeting scheduled to be held at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Centre (KAIPTC), Accra, Ghana, on 28 August 2006.
